Merry Christmas to all!

Polish Christmas celebrations start on Christmas Eve. That's when we gather with our families. We pray, we wish each other Merry Christmas and we all sit at the table. Our tradition says that there should be twelve courses on the table and everybody should try all of them. All courses are vegetarian and fish are the main ingredient of most dishes. Later in the evening, or after the dinner, we serve various cakes and fruit. And it's that Christmas Eve, when Santa visits all those who'd been good. And we sing carols.

On midnight, whoever can and wants to, goes to church for a special mass celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ (so exactly what Christmas is all about). There are lots of carols during the mass (which I love a lot) and very many people come then, too. That's definitely a special night.

The first and second days of Christmas are still spent with our loved ones. Together. And then the food is no longer vegetarian ;) That's just the Christmas Eve tradition (not a must, but very much cultivated).

I would love to wish you all very Merry Christmas, spent in the loving atmosphere with your families and friends.

I to właśnie w Wigilię wszystkich grzecznych odwiedza Gwiazdor vel Święty Mikołaj. I śpiewamy kolędy.

To zdecydowanie wyjątkowa noc.

Pierwszy i drugi dzień świąt również spędzamy w gronie najbliższych. Razem.

Although your name wasn't drawn as the winner, I would like to feature you on the announcement so that anyone who reads my blog could be introduced to yours. If you have a picture or two of yourself that you would like me to use, you could e-mail it to thriftygypsytravels@gmail.com. I'm working on the announcement post now, but won't be publishing until next Friday or Saturday (2nd or 3rd of January).
